Prayer is powerful.
Sometimes it hard to feel that or see that, but it truly is.
We as followers of Christ Jesus, must be a people of prayer. When we become a people of prayer, we are completely dependent upon the power of the Holy Spirit.
When we pray, God works. When we pray, we ask for God’s power, God’s wisdom, God’s strength and so then we are not leaning on our own flesh and strength. When we pray, we let go and allow God to do HIS thing and His thing is something else I’ll tell you.
The God we serve is a God of mighty, awesome, unrelenting power… NOTHING CAN STOP HIS POWER. So when we pray for God to have HIS WAY, nothing can stop that. I mean come on, the demons tremble at our God’s name!!!!
“You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that–and shudder.” James 2:19
So why aren’t we asking more for HIS HELP? Why don’t we pray first, then get to work? Why don’t we spend hours at the LORD’s feet asking for HIS will to be done, for HIS power, HIS unity?
This goes for me too. I don’t pray nearly enough, none of us do. But let’s start praying more. Let’s make prayer our first priority, let’s make it what WE NEED.
And when we pray, let’s pray like we’re fighting… because WE ARE. When we pray we are fighting against the evil powers of this world.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12
When we pray we are standing and interceding on behalf of those we are praying for. WE stand in the gap and ask God to do His will, to have mercy on His people, and for His Spirit to descend upon this place.
When we pray, we step into a war zone and God calls us to do that. He calls us to come to the frontlines of the battle and fight. We must not give up.
“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12
And part of that battle, means fighting for our brothers and sisters…those who know Christ and those who don’t.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18
I pray that God convicts you to pray more. I pray that He begins to break your heart and my heart to desperately need Him more. I pray that He makes us, as the body of Christ, into a people of prayer, a people who are completely dependent and reliant upon the power of the Holy Spirit. I pray that He convicts you about a people group, familiy member, city, nation, or all of those areas in which you need to pray more for. I pray that we become prayer warriors, a people so grounded in the Word of God, a people who rise up and fight with the power and strength of our Mighty God. I pray that we pray on all occasions and witness the power of our God released into the world.
Thank you LORD that you alone are mighty. Thank you that you are a GOD of UNRELENTING POWER. All glory to Him alone forever.
