we are His art.

“I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” Jeremiah 33:6

Peace: freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility; freedom from or the cessation of war or violence.

Anxiety seems to cause a war within us, a war in our hearts, our minds. It takes over everything, it seems to be like a spiraling staircase, where your foot slips once and caboom, you are at the bottom of the entire staircase. You bump every body part off the stairs and are left with bruises and a concussion. Then as you begin to get back up, your foot slips again and there you go down another flight of steps.

Then you begin to beat yourself up for letting your foot slip…

I think this is what anxiety is to me. Sometimes, it just won’t stop and right when it seems like you finally latched onto a little piece of hope, of peace, it begins again.

It feels like sometimes I turn to everything, except the Prince the Peace.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

Jesus is the answer, always.

He works in ways unexplainable to us. He is the great I AM, the Bread of Life. He is our supplement, our provider, our Savior, our everything. He wants to hear your every worry, your fears, your anxieties and He wants to wrap you in His arms and let you sit in His peace.

When you tell Jesus all of the mess inside of you, He takes it and He works on it with His hands to sort it all out and to make it beautiful. The works of His hands are quite wonderful.

We try to be the sculptor though, instead of the pot. We try to be the artist, instead of the art.

Jesus wants us to be His art. He doesn’t want us to worry about how the piece will turn out, or how to get the materials needed to create it. He just needs us to trust Him, to reveal all of us to Him to use in His artwork. He wants us to be His canvas, for His love and peace to be revealed to the world. He wants us to be the scraps that are turned into something so beautiful.

But we have to give Him the paintbrush…

It is impossible to both be the artist and the art. Let go… and let God take control.

He is the most amazing artist there will ever be, I mean just look outside and you see the works of His hands all around you. Give Him every ounce of you and watch what He does.
