Community is one of the most beautiful things I have experienced, especially this week. It is so beautiful to be connected with our brothers and sisters in Christ, to pray with them and encourage them. To simply have a connection with someone because of what God has done in your life is incredible and absolutely wonderful to experience. God uses them to bring us greater and deeper joy, to experience His love through the lives of others.
But so often, we forget about the whole community, the bigger community and we need prayer and reminders of what God says community looks like. So, He brought me to Ephesians today:
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
This convicts us, how often do we give up on each other when we don’t see a result right away, or when someone doesn’t take our advice. But God, He tells us to bear with one another, as He bears with us when we don’t take His advice (which is what is the absolute best) and listen to Him.
[ there is one body of Christ, one hope, one Lord, one faith ]
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we reach unity in the faith and in knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the fullness of Christ.”
((pray that we will no longer be infants tossed back and forth by the wind))
“speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is Christ.”
“From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
[GOD CREATED US TO BE A COMMUNITY]
we cannot prosper on our own
(( T O G E T H E R ))
Right here in Ephesians, God tells us each one of us is necessary, not on our own, but together, as each one of us are a supporting ligament. Without one another, we begin to stray. But together, we are a team, a body of Christ. God calls us to be one, to notice each other’s’ strengths and to encourage one another. Each one of us is NEEDED. We all have different strengths and together, we are stronger. God always encourages us to pray for one another as well.
Right now, I would encourage to pray for a community you may be apart or if you are not, pray God would bring you into a community and give you the faith to step out and search. Such as, a church, a youth group, a bible study group, a campus ministry, an organization. Pray that God would help you be one body; encouraging one another, lifting each other up, praying for one another, forgiving one another, teaching and correcting one another, being kind and compassionate to one another.
((1 Thessalonians 5:11))
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.”
Maybe right now, God has put a name in your head. I don’t think that’s by coincidence, but maybe that person needs encouraged. Take time right now to reach out to that person, pray first about what you may send and pray for that person also. You will be taking a step in encouraging one another and building each other up, as God has called you to do!
